Nathan Healy Wins the StatSheet SoCon Player of the Week - January 14th, 2013

Nathan Healy has won the StatSheet SoCon Player of the Week award for the week ending January 14th. Clide Geffrard Jr. from Samford has won StatSheet SoCon Freshman of the Week. And last but certainly not least, Tevin Baskin has won StatSheet's SoCon 6th Man of the Week. Healy put up huge numbers in rebounding (6.5 per game), scoring (16 pts per game), and steals (3 per game). The Appalachian State senior played well in wins versus Wofford and Elon.

Healy topped all scoring for the Mountaineers with 10 points while also adding 3 assists in a close 50-49 win over Wofford. He followed that up by leading the team in scoring with 22 points plus an additional 4 steals in an 80-70 victory over Elon.

This is the first StatSheet SoCon Player of the Week honor for Nathan Healy. The runner-up this week is Nik Cochran, a senior from Davidson. Honorable mention goes to Davidson senior Clint Mann.

StatSheet SoCon Freshman of the Week: Samford's Clide Geffrard Jr.

Clide Geffrard Jr. averaged 28 minutes while starting both games for Samford. In a late 62-57 win over College of Charleston, Geffrard Jr. rang up 10 points on 100% shooting. Against Citadel, in a thin 69-65 win, he led all scoring with 22 points and also put up 5 rebounds.

This is a new honor for Clide Geffrard Jr., the first time he has won StatSheet SoCon Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Tim Williams from Samford. Larry Wideman from Furman takes honorable mention.

StatSheet SoCon 6th Man of the Week: Appalachian State's Tevin Baskin

Tevin Baskin, a junior and a 6-6 forward, averaged 27 minutes over the two games for the Mountaineers. In the win against Wofford, Baskin took the lead in scoring for the Mountaineers with 10 points on 41% shooting. After that, in the win against Elon, he led all rebounding with 10 and added 55% shooting.

Tevin Baskin has won the StatSheet SoCon 6th Man of the Week a total of 3 times. Clint Mann, a senior forward from Davidson, is runner up. Dontay Hampton, a senior guard from Chattanooga, earns honorable mention. This is the first StatSheet SoCon Player of the Week win for Appalachian State this season.
